Anonymous Reviewer: A Court of Mist and Fury, by Sarah Maas

This is the second book in Maas' series about the magical world of Prythian and its unlikely savior, Feyre, who has now been transformed into one of the High Fae as thanks for her actions.
In this book, Feyre finds herself questioning High Lord Tamlin's love for her, and the reasons why she acted to save Prythian in the first place. Matters are complicated when, on the day of her wedding, High Lord of the Night Court Rhysand appears to claim his time with her, a condition she agreed to when he saved her life Under the Mountain. Over the course of several visits to the Night Court, Feyre's anger subsides and she realizes that things have gone awry, both in her relationship with Tamlin, and within the country. Feyre finds herself helping to prepare for war in Prythian, and making tough decisions about her family and relationships along the way.

Although I sometimes struggle with YA fantasy, I got swept into this series almost immediately. Maas moves the plot along quickly, and there are elements that almost every reader will enjoy: action, romance, and detailed character development. Magical skirmishes are mixed with emotional longing in this novel, and all of the plot elements come together seamlessly. This is a long book, but I flew through all 620 pages in a weekend, and am already planning to read the third book in the series! This type of book might be harder to enjoy for readers who aren't fantasy fans, but even if this isn't your preferred genre, I recommend giving this series a try (begin with A Court of Thorns and Roses to understand the whole story and cast of characters).
